When the decision was made to open the privately owned Clover Forest Plantation for weddings in 2003, something a bit unconventional happened. The owners put their heads together and imagined themselves in the place of a family planning a wedding as well as in the place of the bride and the groom individually. They first figured out what they themselves would want in the way of amenities and, conversely, what they would not want in the way of restrictions. Then they reflected on their own wedding and those of their friends and relatives to pick out the very best features along with anything that, in hindsight, they wished could have been different. Finally, they considered their experiences with European wedding traditions and, voila, the recipe was born for elegant, weekend-long unhurried celebrations where family and friends can reunite, relax and reflect immersed in a pristine setting of immense natural beauty and historic distinction.
