I'm coming to a wedding at Clover Forest Plantation.
What should I know before I get there?"
First of all, "A hearty Welcome to You!"
| | Clover Forest Plantation is an authentic and historic James River plantation that has been lovingly, accurately and painstakingly restored by the family that has owned it now for almost 30 years.
As private property, the owners are under no obligation to open it to the public and yet do so in order to share this unique and beautiful treasure, this haven of tranquility. |
"Welcome to Clover Forest!
"While we host weddings and other special events, we are not a museum, park or public venue of any kind. No public funds went into the restoration of the property nor into its day to day maintenance. This is a family's home and not a corporate facility.
"We welcome you to our private home and ask that during your visit you conduct yourself and treat our things and our property as you would have us do when we come to visit your home.
"We thank you for coming to see Clover Forest and we hope you enjoy yourself while here in this special place."

| When Clover Forest is opened for weddings and special events, there is a start time and an end time to the booking engagement that has been arranged with the bride and groom, the bride's parents or whoever else may have signed the contract. |
There is no access entitlement created beyond those start and stop times. Therefore, visitors who come by days ahead of time or who arrive early on the day of the event are by no means guaranteed access.
No pets are allowed at Clover Forest Plantation. Even the smallest toy-sized breeds are not permitted. The ONLY exception is guide dogs for the visually impaired.
| | Regarding appropriate footwear for guests attending wedding celebrations at Clover Forest Plantation, please note that most of the outdoor surfaces are grassy, graveled or bricked.
The mansion itself has original wood flooring, wooden staircases and porches, with some steps up or down to reach different rooms, and many area rugs.
Tall, thin heels are not ideal for walking on grass; therefore, ladies may wish to choose footwear that is both comfortable for walking and appropriate to a country setting. |
Further regarding footwear, it is important to remember that being a rural authentic James River plantation, Clover Forest Plantation is surrounded by and filled with wildlife, including dangerous insects, plants and animals that can be hazardous.
Keeping the setting in mind, guests may wish to make footwear choices that they feel are appropriate, comfortable and that do not detract from their enjoyment of the celebration. Taking shoes off and going barefoot is ABSOLUTELY NOT recommended.

| Tips for a Great Wedding Reception |
| 1. | Know the shuttle bus schedule. |
| | Knowing the shuttle bus schedule can help guests plan their celebrating so they're ready to leave when the bus is ready to depart. |
| Most Clover Forest Plantation brides and grooms opt to hire shuttle buses to transport wedding guests to and from pre-arranged locations in Richmond, Charlottesville and other central Virginia areas. Out-of-town visitors, unfamiliar with night driving in remote rural areas, appreciate not having to personally navigate dark country roads at the conclusion of the wedding reception. Often there are staggered return schedules for the shuttle buses—one bus leaving earlier and another later. Check with the bride or groom ahead of time to find out the bus schedule for the wedding you're attending. |
| 2. |
Wear a watch. |
| Keeping track of the time will allow visitors to ensure they catch their desired shuttle bus.
|
| 3. |
Bring your photo ID and keep it handy. |
| Having your photo ID handy for bartenders or waitstaff avoids serving delays.
